4 month update

I want to start off by apologizing for being so delayed on blogging. Eli needs my attention, I need sleep when I can get it, we've had lots of visitors, and so on. The best way to keep up with us (if you want) is through twitter! You'll find me at @the_MRSlife
Anyway, Eli is now a little over 4 months old and he's MASSIVE!

My Brother Jackson

Just days ago my brother, Jackson, got to meet baby Eli for the first time. He has been living in Fairbanks, Alaska for quite a few years now (thanks to the Army).  Jackson isn't just any brother, though.

A journey to answers

***I originally posted most of this last week but some information needed to be updated, so I sent it back to drafts until I was able to properly update.***

My entire life, all I've ever wanted was to be a mother.
I finally got my wish......and well....it's pretty miserable.
I've struggled with anxiety and depression for about 9 years, but what has taken over my life is a bit more intense than anything I've experienced prior.

10 week update

Not too much has changed. We are still living day by day. It seems like the colic gets better and then back to crappy.

Sam's Club Snacks

I've always loved both Sam's Club and Costco, but here in Clarksville we only have Sam's. In the passed, I would say, year it appears Sam's has started carrying more healthy and GMO free options. Now, I used to be pretty darn healthy and fit. That sort of ended when we moved and then of course pregnancy cravings were hardly ever healthy. Well now I would like to get back to being a bit healthier. Some things I will probably never give up, but a little at a time is better than no change at all.

9 week update

It's been exactly a week since we saw lactation again and almost a week since our awful pediatrician visit. I checked online and it looks like we will be seen at the same clinic this week BUT we'll be seeing a different doctor YAY! Here's to hoping this one is better. Then I get to call Tricare and have his PCM changed.

Honey Ham Biscuit Sliders

This is easily one of my husband's favorites! I first made it while we were still in college. Oh the memories! Anyway, it's incredibly simple and is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a side item! Of course I've made it so many times now that I've tweaked it to fit us best.

3 Weeks Old

It's amazing how long a week can feel. Time passed so quickly during my pregnancy and now a week feels more like a month. Nothing about newborn life is easy.

Two Week Check-In

Baby Eli is 2 weeks old today! So much has happened and changed in his two weeks on Earth.

Baby Eli's Nursery Reveal

As promised, baby Eli's nursery! I would have revealed it sooner, but we really really wanted to keep his name all to ourselves and how could I reveal his nursery without the hand stitched name pillow I made?!
Enjoy!

He's here!!

I've been struggling to find time to share that my sweet baby boy has made his grand entrance! I wanted to share my birth story and later share my hospital experience as well. But what a better time to share than Mother's Day!

Monday May 4, 2015 at 1:40pm baby Eli James Bernas made his entrance into the world! I am the 1% that delivers on their due date! How absolutely insane!

Hospital Bag

I did a lot of research to try and figure out what I needed in my hospital bag. I used the internet, my friends and some info from the hospital as well. I'll go ahead and share what you'll find in it and later I'll update with exactly how useful it ended up being lol

39 Weeks

This passed week was pretty laid back. I've been drinking my Third Trimester Tea like its my job. I also went a little crazy baking last week as well, oops. Let me tell you, it was SO worth it though!!!

Maternity Photos

I know I shared in a previous post (37 Weeks) some of the DIY maternity photos I did in my home. Today I wanted to share both the photos taken by the art student, Misty, as well as the photos I had a friend take of my husband and I that I edited.
Enjoy!

DIY Nursery, Part III

The last two decor pieces for the nursery were finished here recently. It might even be safe to say they are some of my favorite pieces! They were so last minute because I couldn't get my hands on them until I was about 27/28 weeks pregnant and then of course one of them was damaged.

You might be nesting if.....

Yup. It's happened. I'm officially in nesting mode. Yesterday I got my Betty Crocker on by making these FABULOUS Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

DIY Nursery, Part II

I remember when I first started Pinterest planning my little baby's nursery. We didn't know gender yet but I knew I wanted it to be more on the gender neutral side. We weren't painting and we aren't allowed adhesives on the walls, so it was up to me to get creative.

37 Weeks

Last week was pretty rough on my emotions. I spent many days just wanting to cry my eyes out. Hormones man, they sure are crazy. I spent a couple of days in a pretty terrible funk. I like to think I have defeated it now though. I feel really calm, sort of at peace. I find this incredibly surprising though because we got some pretty crappy news this week.

DIY Nursery, part I

I should be expecting my son in about a month and I finished his nursery just days ago. Usually I would be chomping at the bit share how amazing it is but because we are keeping his name a secret, I will not be doing a full reveal until after his birth. What I will do in the meantime is share pieces and parts of it! His nursery has no specific theme aside from primary colors. I wanted my little man to have lots of bold colors to help with color vision development. Since we are in a rental home, we chose not to bother with painting the walls. This really gave me a lot of creative liberty when it came to decorations!

36 Weeks

Officially 9 months pregnant. Woah. I'm pretty sure I'm waddling at this point. I'm also pretty sure that I increase in size daily. This may not actually be true, but I sure feel like it. In this passed week my husband as spent much more time touching and rubbing my belly. It's really the cutest thing. He's also been going out of his way to tell me just how beautiful he still finds me. I always seem to tell him he's crazy because i'm really struggling with my body image.

Me + Netflix, part I

Alas it's true! I am in love with Netflix. I have been for quite some time, honestly. It wasn't until about 10 months ago that I moved up into the world and started paying for my own account rather than mooch off my sister's. I mean, I watched some pretty odd stuff, still do really. I mostly watch during the day while my husband is at work. That way, he can't make fun of me for the crazy things I choose. So what do I watch then? Well it's all across the board- from documentaries to children's shows. Today, I'll just focus on TV series'.

35 Weeks

Today's photo features my favorite sweatpants lol

I know I gave a little bit of a midweek update, but there is always more to be said!
This passed week has been full of very big baby movements! Everything I read and hear tells me that he should be slowing down, but not this little guy. He's active seemingly all day. I've been able to capture a few great videos to share and save.

Oh, Pregnancy.

Tuesday night was one of the hardest nights of this pregnancy (so far). I could even say it might have been worse than the three day contractions fiasco.

34 Weeks

My goodness has is been crazy these last two weeks since I did a bump update. I've been having braxton hick's contractions here and there since maybe 28 weeks, but recently they have picked up to 20+ some days! There were a few days last week that I thought little man had a plan of his own and would be coming early!

DIY Baby Shower: Part II

As I mentioned in my post 28-30 Weeks, we had a little baby shower here in Tennessee too. Yet again I planned the entire thing and all of my decorations were DIY masterpieces! I have to apologize again for the lack of decent pictures. You would think that for a photographer I would get better photos to share but the chaos just took over. So please bare with me!!
This shower was a laid back, co-ed cookout theme.

DIY Baby Shower: Part I

As I mentioned in my post The Second Trimester, I had a baby shower at about 27 weeks back home in Alabama. I made most everything myself! I designed the invite, made all of the decorations and made one of the games as well! My DIY approach saved SO much money! I choose to throw my on shower since I was planning it from about three hours away and didn't really have anyone back home to do it for me (not that had the time to, atleast). So saving money was essential.

32 Weeks

While I actually hit 32 weeks yesterday, there was entirely too much going on to post an update. Mondays can be so harsh sometimes. What did actually go well was my doctors appointment. I just adore my midwife, she's fantastic!

DIY Burp Cloths

My mother-in-law is an avid quilter and made some burp cloths as a gift for me. This gave me the idea to make some as a gift for a very special friend of mine. Now, they are no where near perfect, but they sure are cute!
I stated out by making a pattern from a giftbag I had handy (lol) then using it to trace out and cut my fabric. For fabric I used a printed snuggle flannel and then a regular solid color flannel.

28-30 weeks

Goodness I almost forgot to add in about our second baby shower in Tennessee. In a later post, I will share all the great decorations I made. Anyway, it was so much fun! Although a small crowd, we had a great time and got tons of awesome stuff we really needed.

The Second Trimester

At 13w 4d we celebrated Halloween! Lots of candy = one happy preggo! At 14 weeks, my belly finally "popped." At 15w 2days, I was driving back to Tennessee from a visit home in Alabama and felt my very first little kicks! They were so light they almost tickled.

The First Trimester

On September 2nd my second blood test confirmed that was was indeed pregnant and would be getting referred upstairs to Women's Health. As soon as we knew for sure, we sent off reveal gifts to our parents! I packed them so hastily I forget to get pictures!

From Trying to Conceiving

In June 2014, my husband and I were freshly settled into our new home in northern Tennessee when we found ourselves in an interesting predicament- we thought I might be pregnant. Now, we wouldn't have been upset if I was. I had wanted to be a mother my entire life and my husband wanted nothing more than to make me one. But we had been married close to nine months and eight of those were spent apart while he was in training. We knew that when I willingly went off my birth control earlier in the year, that it could happen. We also knew that going off the pill was what was best for my body, so it was worth the risk.

Take Two

So I used to have a blog. Realistically it still exists (and I wish I could transport a few posts over from it), but it's time to start again. My life is in a whole new place now. So, lets begin.
My name is Whitney. I am 22 years young and currently 30 weeks pregnant with a little boy. I'm married to the love of my life, Travis, living the Army life and raising a crazy cat named Boomer. I am an alumnae of Kappa Delta Sorority. I met my husband through Greek Life in college in our home state Alabama. Our love story is pretty cute, maybe I'll share it one day.

Although I am nearing the end of my pregnancy, I fully intend to bring the blog up to date on the pregnancy as a whole! It will probably be a four part series throughout the week:
➸TTC and telling hubs ➸The First Trimester ➸The Second Trimester ➸Where we are in the Third

Of course then I get to tell you about my two baby showers and share all of the crafty decorations I made myself! (You'll learn I'm addicted to garland and bunting) I'll share the nursery as well. It's full of fun DIY projects to help keep baby's room cute on a budget.

So, Welcome! I hope you find me funny, honest and maybe a little bit interesting.
